Tornadoes
Tornadoes are ripping through the south right now. We have been lucky in Durham, but Raleigh and parts east, not so much. Please give generously to the Red Cross if you can. Folks who lost everything just before Easter were treated kindly by neighbors and NC State provided graduate housing for families who lost their homes. One man who lost all his belongings recently said on the local station, "It just shows you what kind people there are out in the world."

Welcome, Dear Friends!
We visited the North Carolina Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill yesterday. They had beautiful quilts of the NC wildflower of the year hanging in their new Education Center and a sweet gift shop. The culinary garden was lovely. Why can't I get my rosemary to grow like that?
The poisonous plant walk had me thinking about Amy Stewart's WICKED PLANTS book. Just walking through that garden made me itchy. My favorite part of the garden was... the bees! They have a cool metal outdoor chess set, an Ocanneechi pine-needle hut built that was a joint project by an Eagle Scout and a local Ocanneechi Chief. And the cattail gates, spider garden gate, and sparrow fence-sculpture were all beautiful. More blooms are on their way.
